  1. Inauguration: Eminent personalities, scholars, and those interested in the writing of the Mushaf, Arabic Calligraphy and Decoration will participate.
  2. An exhibition accompanying the Forum. It is a specialized exhibition with many wings. Exhibits will highlight  the efforts in the field of Mushaf-writing, the beautiful aspects of Arabic calligraphy, calligraphy tools, and decoration. There will be displays on the walls containing specimen by the participants, the women’s exhibition, the government agencies and private establishments hall, the Mushafs showcases, showcases for books and university theses dealing with Calligraphy and the Uthmanic Orthography, the hall of the Gifted Calligraphers, the training workshop hall, artistic workshop hall for the calligraphers and computer works, and the hall for displaying the documentary film.
  3. The cultural programme: It includes five lectures, three symposia and seven presentations of experiences by calligraphers and decoration artists participating in the Forum.
  4. Publication of a documentary book about the Forum. It will embody the CVs for the renowned Qur’an calligraphers and coloured specimens of their outstanding works, as well as the activities of the Forum. It has 513 pages. It contains: a brief introduction to the Complex, a scholarly article on the journey of Arabic Calligraphy and the services to the Glorious Qur’an, an introduction of the Forum’s exhibition and its wings, documentation of individual calligraphers both males and females and writers of the Mushaf, and decoration artists participating in the Forum with their original specimens. A documentation of participating government and private establishments follows, and then an introduction to the special issue of the Qur’anic Research and Studies Journal, an introduction to the documentary film, Qafilat al-Nur (Caravan of Light); and finally is the detailed cultural programme.
  5. Publication of a coloured file (catalogue) of 106 pages containing: a brief introduction to the Complex, specimens of ancient mushafs, specimens of mushafs published by the Complex, specimens of styles of Arabic calligraphy, specimens of arabesque, pictures of writing tools.  This is followed by a teaching sample in Thuluth style of writing prepared by the Complex’s calligrapher, Dr Uthman Taha, and lastly, specimens of computer fonts prepared by the Complex.
  6. Bringing out  a special issue of the Journal of Qur’anic Research and Studies, published by the Complex’s General Secretariat on the occasion of this Forum. Scholars in the fields history of the Mushafs, styles of mushaf writing, diacritical signs of the mushaf, gliding and decoration of the Mushaf, arabesque and Arabic calligraphy were asked to contribute which they did. This special issue contains seven articles.
  7. Production of a promotional film about the Forum and its events to highlight the fact that it is held under the royal auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and that in it is meant to honour  the calligraphers and their works.
  8. The production of a documentary film titled “Qafilat al-Nur (The Caravan of Light)”. It portrays the development of the Glorious Qur’an writing right from the time of the Prophet hitherto, in a captivating documentary form based on presenting correct facts and information in a brief subject-theme manner, within thirty minutes. It shall be produced in both Arabic and English languages with a sign language translation of the both. Each of the two films will also have a concise version of it lasting for about seven minutes. The scenes of the film will be accompanied by shots of hand-written documents from Glorious Mushafs, styles of Arabic Calligraphy in different times and climes. This will be done be with a high digital resolution, an outstanding voice recording and creative professional production.
    The film will be projected, during the activities of the Forum, in a hall set apart for visitors, especially students from halaqat of Qur’an Memorization and other school students. The timings  of its projection will be displayed during the Forum.
  9. On the occasion of the Forum, the Complex, will launch a computer programme which will comprise the following:
  •  A brief introduction to the genesis of the Arabic Calligraphy and its development.
  •  An introduction to the famous styles of Arabic writings with specimens of each.
  •  Teaching Calligraphy with the two writing styles of Naskh and Thuluth (Mufarragh and Munaqqat designed by the Complex). All the letters of the alphabet appear in a miniature form.  They can be joined each other according to the rules of each of these two styles. When you click on a letter, it appears enlarged.  A flash programme and an explanatory video clip  appear to explain to the user the ratio of one letter to the other. This programme is an attempt  to fulfill an important objective of the Forum, which is: to explore the possibility of reconciliation between the writings of Calligraphers and the Computer as a  service to Arabic Calligraphy.
  • Various cultural, objective, pedagogical questions on the styles of callifrom of the documentary book and the catalogue.

The programme will be on a computer disc included in the display screens in the Forum for the perusal of visitors about the activities and events of the Forum. It will also be uploaded to the Forum’s website.

10- Closing ceremony. This will consist reading out the recommendations reached at in the Forum.

It is worth mentioning that committees such as the preparatory committee, the scholarly affaires committee and the consultative committee have been set up, and they have started carrying out their various tasks to ensure the best possible means for organizing the Forum. A number of other working committees have been added to them to shoulder the responsibility of the Forum’s activities and events in general.

His Excellency, the Minister for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da’wah and Guidance, the General Supervisor of the Complex, Shaykh Salih ibn Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad Ål al-Shaykh supervises the Forum. The Secretary General of the Complex, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Salim ibn Shudayyid al-Awfi heads the Preparatory committee.
