 HRH Prince Abdul Aziz ibn Majid ibn Abdul Aziz, Governor of Madinah Region paid a visit on Saturday 26/5/1432 AH to the Exhibition accompanying King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex Forum for the World Renowned Quran Calligraphers in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah held in Hotel Meridien in the City of al-Mustafa (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

On his arrival at the Exhibition venue, he was received by the General Secretary of King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex, Chairman of the Forum’s Preparatory Committee, Prof. Dr Muhammad Salim ibn Shudayyid al-Awfi, the calligraphers participating in the Forum, and the chairmen of the different committees of the Forum.

 HRH the Prince, accompanied by the General Secretary and the participants of the Forum, went round all the pavilions of the Exhibition in its different halls containing a number of wings highlighting the efforts made in the fields of writing the mushaf, the esthetic aspects of Arabic Calligraphy, calligraphy tools, decoration and computer fonts. 

HRH the Prince stopped at every wing examining every exhibit and listening to the explanation of every calligrapher regarding the various exhibits which included Mushafs written by the calligraphers participating in the Forum, and ancient Mushafs belonging to various epochs owned by some establishments and universities. The exhibits also include:
artistic plaques written by more than two hundred calligraphers from all over the world,
various specimens of decoration and gelding,
ancient and modern tools used in calligraphy,
books dealing with calligraphy, writing and Quranic orthography, and
specialized journals dealing with calligraphy and calligraphers. 

HRH Prince Abdul Aziz ibn Majid had dinner with the calligraphers, and chairmen and members of the Forum committees at the venue of the Forum.

At the end of his visit, HRH Prince Abdul Aziz ibn Majid ibn Abd al-Aziz said,
‘It is a very beautiful experience to see the activities of the Forum and the Exhibition arranged on this occasion containing specimens of calligraphy and decoration. The State pays special attention to the Qur’an and it is on the top of its priorities. The efforts of King Fahd Complex in the service of calligraphy– which HRH termed as ‘great’- are befitting the royal patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah ibn Abdul Aziz Âl Sa’ud (May Allah protect him).’ HRH the Governor of the Madinah Region expressed his thanks to the Complex and all the calligraphers participating in the Forum from all over the world. He also expressed his appreciation of their work in the fields of calligraphy and decoration, and said that it was a source of honour and pride for them as it was done for serving Allah’s Book.

And regarding the intention to found The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Complex for the Noble Sunnah, HRH said, ‘It is not something unexpected of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.’ HRH reiterated that the Glorious Qur’an, the Prophetic Sunnah and the Two Holy Mosques are the things which this country and the Islamic World are proud of.

HRH spoke highly of the variety of participation in the Exhibition accompanying the Forum where we find universities, government and private bodies and individuals participating in the various wings. He described the activities of the Ministry represented by the Complex as blessed activities.

HRH the Governor of Madinah Region concluded his statement wishing the Calligraphers’ Forum a great success, and those who have organized the Forum guidance in their action, and that they may be divinely helped to conduct this Forum in a fitting and honorable manner.
